Washday...Messy Textured Bun & Curls Galore!

I was so ready for this washday. I don't know about y'all, but I'm convinced that I only like flat ironed hair for length checks! Other than that I love curls and volume! I swear the bigger my hair got as it air dried the happier I was. Here's how my wash day went.

  • Prepooed with coconut oil for 20 minutes (I just recently joined the Hairlista Coconut Oil Challenge. Check it out here).
  • Detangled with Mane N Tail Detangler.
  • Deep conditioned with Keracare Humecto Creme Conditioner on the length of my hair and Macademia Natural Repair Masque on my ends for about 30 minutes using my Gold N Hot conditioning cap.
  • Rinsed and shampooed with Shea Moisture Retention Shampoo.
  • Rinsed and applied a quarter size amount of the generic Matrix Biolage Detangling Conditioner.
  • Did a final rinse and t-shirt dried my hair for about 20 minutes.
  • Applied my leave ins using the L-Chi Keratin Mist, O-GVP Smoothing Serum, C- It's A 10 Miracle Leave In **Newbie Alert** method.
  •  Air dried my hair for about 2.5 hours.
Style: On Saturday I had an early appointment so I just threw my hair into a textured high bun for the day. On Sunday I wanted some volume so I opted for flexi rods! I dry set my hair on 10 flexi rods using a bit of my Dark N Lovely Au Naturale Curl Souffle. The results were awesome. I had the softest curls with a soft hold that lasted all day!

  1. It was about time for me to prepoo my hair with coconut oil. I love it. I agree with you on the big hair thing. Curls look great on you.

  2. Did I just read about you using It's A 10? YUMMO! That stuff is amazeballs!

I really want to use my flexi rods more often but A. I refuse to sit under the dryer for extended periods of time and B. I refuse to sleep in them. (I'm a little high maintenance huh? Ha-ha!) Did you sit under the dryer after adding the flexi rods or just let them "air-set"?

Thanks for sharing your #washdayexperience chica!

    1. I did a dry flexi rod set, but I did sleep with them which wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world!

  3. I love your flexi rod set, your curls look so soft and pretty. Is that Heroine you're rocking with that high bun?

  5. I have joined the harlista coconut challenge too, will keep my coconut prepoos in check! You have looks lovely! I have never used a souffle to set my hair before (puddings etc) and i really think this is why my curl does aren't as on point as yours! Thanks for the tip will try out. Dark & Lovely has come back with a bang!

    1. Yes, I love coconut oil so I figured this would be a great challenge to join! Thank you. I've found that setting the last inch or so of my hair with the Curl Souffle really helps to hold my curls no matter the weather condition!
